It’s about you. What you need. What you desire.⁣

Why am I sharing this?⁣

Because that’s what you should be doing too.⁣

Really know why your followers, prospects + clients are showing up.⁣

Then spend your time giving them that…and sprinkle in your personality & suave ⁣

Do this:⁣

Write down 3-5 topics that people want to hear from you⁣

Write 10-20 posts helping them with that topic.⁣

Schedule those posts out over 3-5 months.⁣

Repeat process⁣

When you get the urge…share something personal.⁣

Type “Born to Lead” if you’re ready to simply succeed rather than complexly fail.⁣

It stems from the venomous & unethical marketing tactics I see being promoted & sold online.

When you truly show up with the best of intentions.

To truly lead and help others.

You often feel out of place in the world of growing your business.

The tactics & strategies feel misaligned

You don’t agree with the “kill or be killed” biz mindset

To sacrifice your family, health & sanity all for the sake of the almighty entrepreneur success story.

Heck, no wonder so many of the best people on our planet question if they can lead a business?

Also…

I personally was told I couldn’t do this business thing.

“Alex, you are not a natural entrepreneur!”

I was told this when I was at my lowest point.

Living off of PBJ sandwiches.

Yup, he knew exactly what I needed lol.

But he was right about something…

That while I wasn’t a “natural entrepreneur”…

I’m a f*cking great leader.

That’s what lights my heart, passion, and drive.

To become people-missioned focused.

When I went in figuring out how to operate as a leader rather than operate as an entrepreneur, or business owner…

That’s when I saw my business success come.

But more importantly…

That’s when I saw the life I desire also come to fruition.

All this to say.

That we must first and foremost start by accepting who we were born to be.

And for some of you…

You Were Born to Lead.

1. Being nice has nothing to do with making money. Most confuse personality traits with success. Shift your perspective if you think being “too nice” will hold you back from financial success.

2. If your financially success role models are *ssholes or people you just don’t align with personally…then keep searching.

3. Do you like yourself? Every single aspect of yourself? The good and the bad? So often, my greatest client stories come from those who begin loving the person they are today…not who they will become.

4. Having been that “nice guy” my whole life, I can tell you being successful was going deeper into who I am rather than trying to become what it seems others desire. 

5. If you see a theme, you should. That being you is exactly what you need to be in order to hit $1m and beyond.

6. Those who I’ve seen who changed, thinking that it would help them hit $1m…and actually achieving that number? They often were more miserable than when they were broke.

7. Let me in on a little secret…you being nice…that can ultimately become your secret weapon.

8. Likeability is a major factor when it comes to increasing your price, signing more clients, attracting amazing team members, and being presented with new opportunities. Instead of seeing your kindness as a weakness, understand it’s an innate gift that can help you soar to roaring success.

9. Don’t confuse being “nice” with feeling “worthy”. They are two distinct problems and if you are undercharging, giving away too much for free, losing credibility, and can’t get the respect you know you deserve…it’s not a nice problem…it’s a worthy or positioning problem.

10. So if you are struggling to earn the income you desire, don’t try to change your personality. Trust me, you’re great . But do start establishing boundaries on what you’re willing to give away & focus on how your brand shows up.

11. So now that we know that being “nice” isn’t holding you back from $1m’s…then what is? We boil it down to these three things: SuccessDNA, GPS Program, HIHE Method

12. Let’s talk SuccessDNA. Simply, how to operate a successful business from your innate leadership gift. To succeed, you must design the organization, message, clients, and programs around your gifts.

13. How? Start by letting go of being everything to everyone. Instead, be one thing to everyone. Ultimately, to that one, you’ll become everything and help them shift to places they would be unable to do themselves.

14. This means letting go of marketing everywhere, selling everything, creating new programs, or trying to get a “yes” from every single person you meet. Embrace the “no’s”, knowing the right “yes'” will come.

15. One last thing on your SuccessDNA…if you don’t know your natural leadership gift (or how to operate from such a place), DM me. We can solve this in 1 question.

16. What is a GPS Program? A proprietary program/product that is perceived as the right solution…and actually delivers success.

17. Prospects do not buy the results of the program, but the perceived value of the program. The difference? The program answers the gaps the prospect has been trying to solve on their own.

18. Having “Ten Bonuses”, having a “30-day guarantee”, or adding “Supportive Community” does not sell your program/product.

19. What does? Your ability to explain (write or speak) what your program solves and clearly articulating a structure, systematic plan your prospect will go through to achieve success.

20. One last thing…remember it’s not about what you know…it’s about what your client needs. My ego has often been the reason I built programs that I thought were amazing…but left me broke.

21. Finally, let’s talk about the HIHE Method. This marketing/sales method has helped my clients and I generate more than $75m. The best part? It’s simple.

22. HIHE stands for high-integrity, high-experience. For every new marketing & sales tactic, tool, or system…baked inside of the most successful are the ones that allow prospects to experience life as a client.

23. Think about it. If you’re a prospect, don’t you just want to know what client’s are experiencing? Yet, so many try to hide it.

24. Instead, let’s embrace giving them an amazing client experience! How? Our favorite is to invite them to a group client call. Or share a recent training you did.

25. Most importantly, do it consistently (not just one time). This will build a memory of you and your business in their mind.

26. So when the time is right…they’ll say “I’m ready” and everyone will be

27. Finally…remember how this post started as to how to hit $1m as a nice person? Isn’t it amazing how quickly a mindset block can be eliminated? Which leads me to maybe the most important lesson I can provide…Don’t think ANYTHING about you is holding you back from any goal in life. Whether it’s $1m or finding love or getting fit…it’s all within your reach.

Close your eyes for a second.

Imagine what your world looks like 3 years from now.

What do you see?

My guess? You don’t see someone working 24/7.

Yet, so many leaders like us believe we have to be on and working constantly.

In fact, I’d argue that the key consistency isn’t planning or life hacking or accountability partners, or motivation.

The key is to rest

What we teach our clients is the acronym BEA

B – Break weekly (create weekly boundaries that work is off-limits to)

E – Escape Monthly (create a monthly boundary where you get away from the day-to-day)

A – Abandon Yearly (create a yearly boundary to escape from life as you know it)

Consistently succeeding is ultimately correlated to consistently resting.

Today is one of those days I am grateful for you.

I’ve been on this entrepreneurial journey for roughly 8 years with many highs and lows. Barely being able to eat in my first leadership position as a college assistant swim coach. My first three businesses failing without much to show for my efforts other than piles of late bills and creditors calling. People who I thought loved me and supported me vanishing into thin air the moment I struggled. Worst of all, having those voices in my head saying, “who do you think you are?”…questioning myself and in the famous words of Les Brown, asking myself, “Can I do this?!?!”

I want this to be simple, actionable way to achieve your “impossible” goal. It’s going to take a…

Shifting of your mindset from problem-focused to opportunity-sighted.

Shifting how you spend three limited resources: time, money & energy (and not in that order)

Shifting into an implementation machine, rather than staying stuck and looking for another accountability partner.

Sound good?

There is one short story I want you to keep in mind.

Considered the greatest hockey player ever, a reporter was bold enough to approach Wayne Gretzky and ask this question (please note it’s paraphrased)

“How do you consistently lead the league in scoring? You aren’t the biggest…nor the strongest…you don’t have an incredible shot…and you aren’t even the fastest on the team. And yet, you always are the leagues point leader.”

Without hesitation, Wayne gave such a short…but profound statement…

“I know where the puck and defenders are going to be before they even know it.

Wow. Let that sink in for a minute.

Let’s get back to our world. Imagine if you knew before your competitors what direction your industry was heading and where it was going, how would that change your days? Weeks?

Imagine if you knew, before your clients even knew, what problems and pains they were going to face, how would that change your service/products? Marketing?

The key, as a leader, is to develop your visionary skills and structure.

Here is how:

Visionary Skills Must Be Practiced

Achieving the impossible goal is going to be impossible if you don’t have a vision. Let’s make sure we have a mutual understanding of what “vision” means.

Vision is a shared outlook of how the future will unfold. It’s not just yours. It’s also not just your clients or the industry’s.

With this established as the truth, then to develop your visionary skills takes 3 components:

1)Consistently monitoring the “now” to understand how that will change the future

2)Consistently monitoring innovations to understand how that will change the future

3)Being consistently preparing

The key? Consistency. We challenge our clients in the Vault Team to practice at least weekly what they expect will be needed at a minimum, 1 year from now. At worst, 90 days.

This consistent practice not only breeds creativity and enhances one’s knowledge, but it does something even MORE important.

It builds intuition. A gut instinct that as practiced, becomes mastered and in the end, your secret weapon.

Opportunity Planning

Every leader that has ever approached me as had this to say:

“Alex, it would be great if I could start preparing my business for the future. However, I’ve got this marketing issue, I’ve got an employee morale problem…and if I can be candid, I’m just exhausted from putting out all these fires.”

I feel for this person. The reason? Because this leader, like you, wants to make a difference for people. He/She is sacrificing their time, money and energy and then bending over backwards to help their clients, team and whoever else is asking for help.

I also know the tough conversation that I’m about to have with them.

It goes like this:

“I’m sorry…I truly am. I know there are days that all we do is put fires out (and rightfully so)

But let’s stop the excuses and let’s be honest with each other.

You and I both know that it’s not the fires that’s the problem. The problem is you can’t even see what the future other than more of the same.

It’s not a them problem. It’s a us as leader problem. We need to prioritize our vision first. When we do, we’ll start talking about opportunities we see. We’ll start giving attention to what will help us leverage and capitalize our opportunities.

I assure you, you can do this! I know you can. But you have to start spending your time with intention on the opportunities you see for yourself in the future.”

They are tough conversations…but they are needed.

A simple starting point: Imagine what the business needs to look like 1 year from now. Then work your way backwards by quarters. Pick one area of focus for each quarter. Not two (trust me, one will be plenty).

Which leads me to the final point…

The 60% Rule

Now that you’ve established one focus for each quarter, let’s have another honest moment with each other.

How often do you backslide?

Trust me, I do! Heck, I promised myself no desserts for this week and there I was, enjoying another soft serve ice cream cone last night.

It happens. It’s ok! But we need to set ourselves up for success.

Which is where the 60% rule comes in.

While I know some of you work longer than 8-hour days, 5 days/week, let’s assume that is your schedule.

If we follow this rule…then…that means 24 hours per week are spent on your one focus (whichever you chose above), or 3 days. That means that to make this work, you need to finish any other work that you may have in the other 16 hours that week.

This is where you may look at me as if I’m crazy! Maybe…

But let’s look at the work you fill up your week with. How many of those tasks are nonessential? How many could be easily handed off to someone? How many times are we just procrastinating because we are in this monotonous cycle?

Now imagine if you truly gave the intention and attention to your focus that it deserves. How much closer would it put you to your “impossible” goal? How much more energized would you feel going into the work day? How many more times would you say “no” and feel great about it (yes, this does happen)?

The 60% rule wasn’t just picked out of thin air. It was established when we studied the Vault Team clients who grew the fastest (and quickly hit $20k/month and beyond) versus that individuals who grew, but not as rapidly.

The key: those who spent 60% of their time on the right things at the right time with the right people crushed it. Big time.

So where should you spend your time?

Honestly, I can’t tell you that without better understanding where your business is currently. As much as I would love to play like Gretzky, I first must learn how to ice skate.

In order to erect a culture that is clear, connects with our audience, and generates conviction deep inside our clients to take action (buy happily) and stay for life (feel secure and fulfilled), we must first understand that a culture is not yours or mine, it is shared.

A shared culture is an evolutionary culture. Meaning…it’s up to you as the leader to be constantly in tune with 3 specific tangible aspects of your business.

VISION

Vision is not a “purpose” or a “mission statement”. It is also not an inspirational picture that is on the desk or hung on the wall. Vision is a tangible outcome that connects you to your audience. In fact, your audience often knows their purpose, but very rarely knows their vision.

As a leader, that is where you come in. Your vision must be clear, instantly connects, and resonates with both you and your audience.

TRIBE

Everybody wants to “belong”. They want to find a “home”. The emotion of feeling alone is one of, if not, the most painful emotions a person can feel. The result is people are trying to find a group of people who mirror them in a variety of ways.

As a leader, you can be the “hero” of the story. When you have a vision that resonates deeply with the person, now you can truly understand who this person is and create a welcoming environment.

MECHANISM

Transformational. Enlightening. Fulfilling. These are emotions that express more than just satisfaction. Every business shares this in common: they solve problems. Yet, it’s the businesses that listen and go far and beyond the expectation of their tribe.
As a leader, you are the one who needs to not only listen to their problems but understand where they want to go BEFORE the client even knows. Rather than being a commodity, you become their secret weapon. A secret weapon that they wish to work with for…life.

As you begin to move forward, ask yourself this question: how would you rate yourself in each of these categories?
