<p class="wp-block-paragraph">1. Being nice has nothing to do with making money. Most confuse personality traits with success. Shift your perspective if you think being &#8220;too nice&#8221; will hold you back from financial success.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">2. If your financially success role models are *ssholes or people you just don&#8217;t align with personally&#8230;then keep searching.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">3. Do you like yourself? Every single aspect of yourself? The good and the bad? So often, my greatest client stories come from those who begin loving the person they are today&#8230;not who they will become.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">4. Having been that &#8220;nice guy&#8221; my whole life, I can tell you being successful was going deeper into who I am rather than trying to become what it seems others desire.&nbsp;</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">5. If you see a theme, you should. That being you is exactly what you need to be in order to hit $1m and beyond.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">6. Those who I&#8217;ve seen who changed, thinking that it would help them hit $1m&#8230;and actually achieving that number? They often were more miserable than when they were broke.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">7. Let me in on a little secret&#8230;you being nice&#8230;that can ultimately become your secret weapon.</p>

Likeability is a major factor when it comes to increasing your price, signing more clients, attracting amazing team members, and being presented with new opportunities. Instead of seeing your kindness as a weakness, understand it&#8217;s an innate gift that can help you soar to roaring success.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">9. Don&#8217;t confuse being &#8220;nice&#8221; with feeling &#8220;worthy&#8221;. They are two distinct problems and if you are undercharging, giving away too much for free, losing credibility, and can&#8217;t get the respect you know you deserve&#8230;it&#8217;s not a nice problem&#8230;it&#8217;s a worthy or positioning problem.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A &#8211; Abandon Yearly (create a yearly boundary to escape from life as you know it)</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Consistently succeeding is ultimately correlated to consistently resting.</p>

<p>Today is one of those days I am grateful for you.</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve been on this entrepreneurial journey for roughly 8 years with many highs and lows. Barely being able to eat in my first leadership position as a college assistant swim coach. My first three businesses failing without much to show for my efforts other than piles of late bills and creditors calling. People who I thought loved me and supported me vanishing into thin air the moment I struggled. Worst of all, having those voices in my head saying, &#8220;who do you think you are?&#8221;&#8230;questioning myself and in the famous words of Les Brown, asking myself, &#8220;Can I do this?!?!&#8221;</p>
<p>Today is a day to celebrate and most importantly thank you.</p>
<p>I have the pleasure and honor to mentor, coach and lead an transformation organization that inspires, supports, guides, trains, and grows entrepreneurial leaders and their businesses all over the world. Because of your trust and growth, we&#8217;ve not only surpassed our goals&#8230;but I was featured today on the front page of Entrepreneur®.</p>
<p>While this is my story, history, philosophy and vision distilled into a 2000 word article, it&#8217;s my deep, rooted reasons for why I will continue to serve each of you to the best of my abilities.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Let me make a promise to you: this is NOT going to be one of my inspiring speeches (even though I hope it inspires you).</p>
<p>I want this to be simple, actionable way to achieve your “impossible” goal. It’s going to take a…</p>
<p>Shifting of your mindset from problem-focused to opportunity-sighted.</p>
<p>Shifting how you spend three limited resources: time, money &amp; energy (and not in that order)</p>
<p>Shifting into an implementation machine, rather than staying stuck and looking for another accountability partner.</p>
<p>Sound good?</p>
<p>There is one short story I want you to keep in mind.</p>
<p>Considered the greatest hockey player ever, a reporter was bold enough to approach Wayne Gretzky and ask this question (please note it’s paraphrased)</p>
<p>“How do you consistently lead the league in scoring? You aren’t the biggest…nor the strongest…you don’t have an incredible shot…and you aren’t even the fastest on the team. And yet, you always are the leagues point leader.”</p>
<p>Without hesitation, Wayne gave such a short…but profound statement…</p>
<p>“I know where the puck and defenders are going to be before they even know it.</p>
<p>Wow. Let that sink in for a minute.</p>
<p>Let’s get back to our world. Imagine if you knew before your competitors what direction your industry was heading and where it was going, how would that change your days? Weeks?</p>
<p>Imagine if you knew, before your clients even knew, what problems and pains they were going to face, how would that change your service/products? Marketing?</p>
<p>The key, as a leader, is to develop your visionary skills and structure.</p>
<p>Here is how:</p>
<p><strong>Visionary Skills Must Be Practiced</strong></p>
<p>Achieving the impossible goal is going to be impossible if you don’t have a vision. Let’s make sure we have a mutual understanding of what “vision” means.</p>
<p>Vision is a shared outlook of how the future will unfold. It’s not just yours. It’s also not just your clients or the industry’s.</p>
<p>With this established as the truth, then to develop your visionary skills takes 3 components:</p>
<p>1)Consistently monitoring the “now” to understand how that will change the future</p>
<p>2)Consistently monitoring innovations to understand how that will change the future</p>
<p>3)Being consistently preparing</p>
<p>The key? Consistency. We challenge our clients in the Vault Team to practice at least weekly what they expect will be needed at a minimum, 1 year from now. At worst, 90 days.</p>
<p>This consistent practice not only breeds creativity and enhances one’s knowledge, but it does something even MORE important.</p>
<p>It builds intuition. A gut instinct that as practiced, becomes mastered and in the end, your secret weapon.</p>
<p><strong>Opportunity Planning</strong></p>
<p>Every leader that has ever approached me as had this to say:</p>
<p>“Alex, it would be great if I could start preparing my business for the future. However, I’ve got this marketing issue, I’ve got an employee morale problem…and if I can be candid, I’m just exhausted from putting out all these fires.”</p>
<p>I feel for this person. The reason? Because this leader, like you, wants to make a difference for people. He/She is sacrificing their time, money and energy and then bending over backwards to help their clients, team and whoever else is asking for help.</p>
<p>I also know the tough conversation that I’m about to have with them.</p>
<p>It goes like this:</p>
<p>“I’m sorry…I truly am. I know there are days that all we do is put fires out (and rightfully so)</p>
<p>But let’s stop the excuses and let’s be honest with each other.</p>
<p>You and I both know that it’s not the fires that’s the problem. The problem is you can’t even see what the future other than more of the same.</p>
<p>It’s not a them problem. It’s a us as leader problem. We need to prioritize our vision first. When we do, we’ll start talking about opportunities we see. We’ll start giving attention to what will help us leverage and capitalize our opportunities.</p>
<p>I assure you, you can do this! I know you can. But you have to start spending your time with intention on the opportunities you see for yourself in the future.”</p>
<p>They are tough conversations…but they are needed.</p>
<p>A simple starting point: Imagine what the business needs to look like 1 year from now. Then work your way backwards by quarters. Pick one area of focus for each quarter. Not two (trust me, one will be plenty).</p>
<p>Which leads me to the final point…</p>
<p><strong>The 60% Rule</strong></p>
<p>Now that you’ve established one focus for each quarter, let’s have another honest moment with each other.</p>
<p>How often do you backslide?</p>
<p>Trust me, I do! Heck, I promised myself no desserts for this week and there I was, enjoying another soft serve ice cream cone last night.</p>
<p>It happens. It’s ok! But we need to set ourselves up for success.</p>
<p>Which is where the 60% rule comes in.</p>
<p>While I know some of you work longer than 8-hour days, 5 days/week, let’s assume that is your schedule.</p>
<p>If we follow this rule…then…that means 24 hours per week are spent on your one focus (whichever you chose above), or 3 days. That means that to make this work, you need to finish any other work that you may have in the other 16 hours that week.</p>
<p>This is where you may look at me as if I’m crazy! Maybe…</p>
<p>But let’s look at the work you fill up your week with. How many of those tasks are nonessential? How many could be easily handed off to someone? How many times are we just procrastinating because we are in this monotonous cycle?</p>
<p>Now imagine if you truly gave the intention and attention to your focus that it deserves. How much closer would it put you to your “impossible” goal? How much more energized would you feel going into the work day? How many more times would you say “no” and feel great about it (yes, this does happen)?</p>
<p>The 60% rule wasn’t just picked out of thin air. It was established when we studied the Vault Team clients who grew the fastest (and quickly hit $20k/month and beyond) versus that individuals who grew, but not as rapidly.</p>
<p>The key: those who spent 60% of their time on the right things at the right time with the right people crushed it. Big time.</p>
<p><strong>So where should you spend your time?</strong></p>
<p>Honestly, I can’t tell you that without better understanding where your business is currently. As much as I would love to play like Gretzky, I first must learn how to ice skate.</p>

<p>I know you are someone who wants to create a MASSIVE IMPACT. You have a message that has the capability to transform someone’s life. To reach people, you’ve spent your limited time, money and energy perfecting your marketing plan, developing your sales skills, and hiring talent to help take your vision to the masses.</p>
<p>With all the time, money and energy spent, the result has been…well, not exactly what you were looking for. </p>
<p>It hurts. In fact, I’m hurt for you. I know you are one of the good people. The person who possesses honesty, integrity &#038; courage. The founder, the leader who decided to create something from nothing, in the name of improving our society.</p>
<p>So why didn’t it work? As I often see with my clients and many other overwhelmed leaders, the one area most often overlooked is your culture.</p>
<p>So why is culture important? It’s the foundation of your business that permeates through every single aspect of your business. Your client will, at one point in time, touch each and every aspect of your business…especially if you want to keep them for life. If we want to make more impact…if we want to generate a movement…we must have a culture that is aligned with our business.</p>
<p>In order to erect a culture that is clear, connects with our audience, and generates conviction deep inside our clients to take action (buy happily) and stay for life (feel secure and fulfilled), we must first understand that a culture is not yours or mine, it is shared. </p>
<p>A shared culture is an evolutionary culture. Meaning…it’s up to you as the leader to be constantly in tune with 3 specific tangible aspects of your business.</p>
<p>VISION</p>
<p>Vision is not a “purpose” or a “mission statement”. It is also not an inspirational picture that is on the desk or hung on the wall. Vision is a tangible outcome that connects you to your audience. In fact, your audience often knows their purpose, but very rarely knows their vision.</p>
<p>As a leader, that is where you come in. Your vision must be clear, instantly connects, and resonates with both you and your audience.</p>
<p>TRIBE</p>
<p>Everybody wants to “belong”. They want to find a “home”. The emotion of feeling alone is one of, if not, the most painful emotions a person can feel. The result is people are trying to find a group of people who mirror them in a variety of ways. </p>
<p>As a leader, you can be the “hero” of the story. When you have a vision that resonates deeply with the person, now you can truly understand who this person is and create a welcoming environment.</p>
<p>MECHANISM</p>
<p>Transformational. Enlightening. Fulfilling. These are emotions that express more than just satisfaction. Every business shares this in common: they solve problems. Yet, it’s the businesses that listen and go far and beyond the expectation of their tribe.<br />
As a leader, you are the one who needs to not only listen to their problems but understand where they want to go BEFORE the client even knows. Rather than being a commodity, you become their secret weapon. A secret weapon that they wish to work with for…life.</p>
<p>As you begin to move forward, ask yourself this question: how would you rate yourself in each of these categories? </p>
